Smoking is Dangerous

Smoking cigarettes should be a thing of the past. It is a very expensive, unhealthy, damaging, and addicting habit. Smoking can have serious negative effects on one’s body, it can cause lung cancer and increase the risk for heart disease while putting a huge dent in the wallet of most of those choosing to smoke. Cigarettes are a concoction of various chemicals that you wouldn’t normally be okay with ingesting, along with nicotine, and are rolled up into a stick shape, then placed into a box, about the size of a deck of cars, for one’s convenience.

Awareness should be brought to this topic because not only are cigarettes bad for people, but also for the environment and surrounding people. Seconding hand smoke is a very real and serious issue entangled with cigarette smokers. Not only is it an objectively disgusting smell, but it might be unintentionally hurting friends, family, and children when they breathe in the smoke. Though the bystanders may have never smoked in their lives, second-hand smoke causes them issues down the road. Cigarette butts are bad for the environment because they are typically disposed of onto the ground and are tough to properly recycle. The chemicals found in cigarettes are toxic to the surrounding environment, including soil, water, air, and wildlife. Outside of those issues described, locally in NY the cost of cigarettes is astronomical, and during these current times, having an expensive habit can surely make life harder for those with smoking addictions.

Smoking cigarettes affects the person smoking them, the people surrounding them, the environment, and wildlife and can be very addicting. It is amazing how one tobacco-filled stick can do so much damage. People can be so addicted to smoking cigarettes and the buzz they receive from them, that they will financially cripple themselves.
